Winter is finally almost over! And thank goodness for that, I'm so tired of the cold!
But the long, chilly months did give Eldrin plenty of time to fill my head with the history of the Luminora Nexus and how it works.
The Nexus is an array of thirteen massive crystals. Each one hovers majestically above its dedicated plinth. The largest, the Lyrith, is this absolutely beautiful, glistening white crystal in the center of the array. From the Lyrith, lines of light connect to each of the other twelve plinths, illuminating when a realm is ready for travel or when its corresponding crystal is fully intact.
With all thirteen crystals correctly in place, the Nexus gains the power to teleport everyone inside its circle to an entirely new world. But as we travel, the twelve outer crystals splinter and break apart. Their pieces then rain down on various realms, which, conveniently, are always rich in particular resources.
Once the Nexus lands on the new planet, enough of the broken crystals remain in their plinths to open a one-way path to where their corresponding pieces fell.
Both the recovery and adventuring teams meet at the crystal's plinth; that's where their journey truly begins, as it acts as their travel conduit. In the realm, they find a twin plinth, known as a Nux, where they place all the crystal fragments they've found. The Nux won't align with our Luminora Nexus or bring anyone home until all the fragments are retrieved. If they fail to find them all, they're trapped in that realm forever. It's a rare occurrence, only twice in our history, but it's a grim possibility.
